Estate Planning

“I need to do a will.”

Odds are, you need more than that.

Get our free download for busy parents: “Choose Your Guardian”

This can be the toughest decision for any parent - who will take care of your kids if you can’t be there?

We offer simple tips to consider in making your own decision.

Ask us about how to do it in a day.

It may seem impossible just to get an appointment elsewhere for a consultation.

(We may have a bit of a wait here, but you can see our availability right away with our online booking system.)

Typically, it takes several weeks from start to finish to get your estate plan done.

First, there’s the consultation, then there’s the engagement process, then there’s filling out the forms, making the decisions, asking more questions, going back and forth until the documents are drafted.

Then you review the draft, ask more questions, maybe make some changes or update some info.

After that you come in for a signing meeting to execute everything.

Next, you come back to pick up your binder of documents and go over everything you need to know to make sure your plan does what you want it to do.

During the process, you may need to take time away from work, get a babysitter, juggle some things with the kids.

It takes awhile, but it’s definitely the norm.

We’ve done it this way forever ourselves.

It’s the way it’s always been in the world of estate planning.

But after thinking long and hard, we see now that it’s possible for you to get it all done in one day.

Instead of taking hours away from work on multiple days, you can get it done in just one day with us.

We’ll even make it a pleasant one.

Want to do it in a beautiful location where you can take a walk or go get a massage while we do our work?

We got you.

Want to enjoy a delicious meal during the day?

We got you there, too.

Little things like this make getting your estate plan feel almost … enjoyable.

Instead of something you just have to cross off your to-do list.

Think of it as your “Client VIP Day.”

A luxury experience where we co-create your estate plan together,

as intently as we can and right when you’re ready to get it done already.

These appointments typically book out several weeks in advance. Appointments must be paid in full at the time of booking, as we will block the entire day just for you.

Ready to get yours done? Start by scheduling a complimentary Zoom call to talk about your needs, your wishes, and anything else you want to discuss.

Taking a full day off seem tough for you right now? That’s ok, we still have ways to make it easier to get through the process the old fashioned way.

Feeling antsy and ready to START? Right NOW?

You’re here. That means you’re looking into getting your planning done.

Perhaps you’re ready to take action right now.

If that’s the case, schedule your first meeting with us and receive a link to get started with the intake process.

Take that first step.

You’re ready.

Check it out here:

“I don’t have the time to book an appointment, coordinate with my spouse, and get into the office.”

“I am worried about what it will cost.”

“It seems overwhelming.”

These are just a few of the common things people share with us about what has gotten in the way of doing their estate plan.

(They all say they feel immensely better once it’s done, by the way…)

We can’t wave a magic wand and take care of all those issues and create a plan all by ourselves without a bit of work from you, even though we wish we could. But we can reassure you that a solid, comprehensive plan makes everyone’s life easier when the inevitable arrives.

Doing a plan can drum up all sorts of resistance for people. Family drama, facing our own mortality, just “not wanting to deal with it.” That’s ok. It’s natural. These are not easy topics to face head on.

We get that. We are always happy to listen, to help you work through the resistance.

We’ve also worked hard to make it easier for you in the ways we can. The ways that don’t include the magic wand.

How do we make it easier for you?

1) We offer Zoom meetings. You can schedule an initial consult right off our website. No need to even pick up the phone.

2) Our online resources give you lots of important info, let you know what decisions you need to make, and provide you a worksheet so you can see exactly what you need to do for the basic documents that form the foundation for every plan we do.

3) An online questionnaire is always available to allow you to provide the important information we need to get your plan started - you can do that at 2 a.m. if that’s the time that works for you.

4) We accept online payments. No need to find your checkbook, an envelope, and a stamp.

5) Need to break out your planning to fit your budget? We can talk about how to split up your planning so you do the most important documents first and follow a schedule to get the rest done on a timeline that works for you and your savings.

6) Your signed documents are uploaded into our client portal so you can access them anytime you want. Download them, find them when you’re on vacation. They’ll be there.

7) Oh, and it’s us here. Not an impersonal online system. You’re working with us and the system WE designed for our clients. For you.

Are we missing something? Wishing we could offer something else? Reach out and let us know. Times are a little crazy right now and we want to make this part as easy as we can so you can get it done.

Why get your planning done? And what do you need to do?

A comprehensive estate plan is more than just a will.

It’s a reflection of your wishes, a plan for your life, a “worst case scenario” insurance plan.

Or assurance. Assurance that everyone in your life will know what to do, who should do it, and where to get help when they need to use it.

It’s making sure that your assets avoid the probate process if that’s important to you. That your kids or grandkids benefit from your hard work in the way you want them to.

It’s letting your family know what you want for yourself, your body, your business if they need to step in for you one day.

And getting it all on paper.

Maybe you’ve heard of some of these things….

Trusts, pourover wills, powers of attorney, health care agents, HIPAA waivers, living wills. They are all documents that form parts of a soup-to-nuts estate plan. Understanding what they are, how they work, and whom you should choose to do these things for you is an essential part of getting it done right. Book now to learn more about what your situation needs most.

Wondering if you need a trust? Odds are it’s a good choice if:

If you have kids under 18;

Own real estate; and/or

Live in Massachusetts and have over $1,000,000 in assets, life insurance, and retirement benefits.

If any of those apply to you, let’s talk. That’s the best way to figure out what you need most.
